I had the pleasure of photographing the most stunning fall wedding in Vail a while back, a day that Tera + Dave put together so beautifully to celebrate their love in its truest form. I’m over-the-moon obsessed with the warm, romantic fall wedding decor they dreamed up, and the way their Sonnenalp Club wedding at Harvest Restaurant & Bar came to life flawlessly!
Tera + Dave come from two very different backgrounds but truly fit seamlessly together. Dave grew up in Long Island, NY, and Tera’s from Minnesota. His love language is acts of service, while hers is words of affirmation. One of my favorite things about working with couples to help them create the most meaningful celebration of their love is getting to learn about their relationship, about their story; it’s an honor I’ll never take for granted. These two truly brought their individual lives and blended them to create a new, more beautiful life together – and that love + romance absolutely shone through on their wedding day!
When they originally inquired with me, Tera + Dave mentioned that my aesthetic was exactly what they were looking for – romantic, soft, and warm, yet bold colors. They chose the Harvest at the Sonnenalp Golf Club in Edwards, CO because they absolutely loved how it was pulled back from the mountains, with phenomenal views of the Vail Valley at the ceremony spot. They wanted their ceremony and reception to be traditional, yet modern, and brought out the romantic vibes they were envisioning through plenty of fall-toned decor + candles to warm up the environment.
Tera + Dave’s wedding happened to fall on the most perfect autumn day. I stayed in Vail with my family the day before and got to eat apple cider donuts, hang out in the hot tub, and we even saw a bear. I woke up the next morning and headed off to shoot the most stunning wedding, starting the day off with Tera, who was getting ready with her girls at an Airbnb in Vail – with, of course, absolutely insane views. She looked nothing short of magical in her dress, a minimalist piece with a hint of glam thanks to the sleek satin material & the heirloom jewelry she adorned. Dave looked classy in a deep blue Indochino tux, and once the two of them saw each other at their first look on the Sonnenalp golf course, all the emotions started pouring out.
It started to hail right as their wedding ceremony at Harvest was about to start, so we had to hold off for a bit – but it all turned out beautifully in the end. After Tera + Dave made things official in front of the most magical mountain views, they headed off to their Harvest wedding reception with their guests, and started the night off with a song! Everyone danced before they were even seated, and it totally set the tone for the evening + everyone had a blast.
From start to finish, this Vail wedding at Harvest Restaurant/Sonnenalp Club fit Tera + Dave so perfectly, and was the perfect example of a classic fall, Vail wedding. So glad I got to be there to witness it all.
Creds to the rest of the vendors for helping Tera + Dave bring their dream day to life!
The Harvest Restaurant & Bar at the Sonnenalp Club is an absolutely breathtaking Vail wedding venue that I cannot recommend highly enough. Located in Edwards, CO, at the top of Singletree, the restaurant boasts spectacular mountain views, lush greenery blooming everywhere you look. The Sonnenalp Club itself is an iconic part of the area, with over 150 acres of beautifully-manicured grounds, luxurious amenities, and jaw-dropping scenery.
The abundance of customizable space on the green makes it easy for the venue to cater to every couple’s unique needs, whether you’re having a small gathering of just 20 of your closests friends or a large party with all your distant cousins. The wedding green at Harvest restaurant can comfortably accommodate up to 200 guests – so you’ll have plenty of room to invite all of your favorite humans!
P.S. Because the Harvest is a restaurant & bar, you’ll have no shortage of absolutely delicious dishes to choose from for your wedding! Depending on the size of your celebration and whether you’ll be having a cocktail hour as well as dinner, or solely dinner, you & your guests will enjoy either a plated meal or various samplings from Harvest’s signature buffet. Trust me when I say that it’s always a good idea to hold your wedding reception somewhere where professional chefs are the ones doing the cooking.
