Getting to spend time with Sabrina and Oleg doing a session the day before their Italy destination wedding was an absolute honor — I’ve been dying to share more from this amazing trip and can’t wait for you to see the magic we created!

A magical day exploring Italy’s Amalfi Coast 

If you’re eloping on the Amalfi Coast, a day-before session is almost a must. Sabrina + Oleg live in LA and we actually did their engagement shoot in Seattle a while back (take a look at their cutie photos here), so when I got the chance to travel to Italy for their wedding I already knew it would be incredible.

We met up the day before their wedding, along with their videographers (shoutout to Colin & Lakin), which made it all the more fun — always love getting to hang with other vendors (especially videography teams) before the big day so we can get comfortable ahead of time!

All the fun details that went into their day before wedding photos

Sabrina + Oleg booked the most stunning villa in Positano to stay in that also doubled as their wedding venue. We picked them up at the villa, Villa Il Frantoio for their day-before session, and got to see the gorgeous vintage Fiat they rented to drive around Positano in. If you’re going to rent a car for your destination wedding might as well do it in style, right? Immediately fell head-over-heels in love with the bright, mint green ride that we got to use in their photos.

If you’ve been to the Amalfi Coast then you know how insane the roads are — we spent the entire time dodging people & cars everywhere we went, but it was all worth it for the endless ocean views! We totally lucked out with an empty little stretch of road to snap a few adorable roadside photos with the coast in the background, too.

The morning of the shoot it was super touch & go with a bit of rain, so we had to hold off for a little bit as we waited for it to stop. Once the clouds cleared, we started shooting in Praiano and then made our way to Positano, where Sabrina and Oleg were having their rehearsal dinner!

Getting to explore the coast and take in the views of the spectacular, blue waters of the Amalfi Coast with these two was nothing short of a dream come true. More to come from this incredible trip & their wedding day so soon🤍 

Why I adore day-before sessions for destination weddings

I absolutely love doing a day-before (or day-after!) session with couples who are doing a destination wedding! If you’ve spent your time & money planning your wedding in an incredible place that you want to explore, then a session the day before or after is such a perfect way to do that. You get bonus photos outside the craziness of the actual big day, and it doubles as a sweet date for the two of you & a little escape from your fam and friends (no matter how much you love them). We can spend the day exploring the town, stopping for a bite to eat or a drink at a local eatery, visiting the spots with the best views, and pulling off the road for photos in front of the stunning scenery like Sabrina + Oleg did. It’s also such a great way for me, as your photographer, to spend time with you as a couple if we weren’t able to do an engagement shoot before your destination wedding, and to get comfortable with you two!

This day was just a dream, and so was the next – their Amalfi Coast wedding. Photos to come soon from their wedding day that was somehow even more magical!
