Engagement Photos Big Sur, California
If you are looking for a unique & breathtaking location for your engagement photos, check out Big Sur! Big Sur is one of the most beautiful California engagement photo locations. Big Sur is a rugged stretch of coast on Highway 1, located between Carmel and San Simeon. The two lane road traverses through rugged cliffsides, beautiful beaches and breathtaking views. What I love about Big Sur Engagement photos is the raw beauty of nature at every corner.
One of my favortie things about shooting Big Sur engagement photos is the endless amounts of locations. Every single time I visit, I find another new beautiful backdrop to shoot my couples. There are so many spots to explore and I find myself wanting to pull over off the road every mile! if you haven’t been to Big Sur then book a ticket immediately. Truly there is no place that isn’t stunning. The west coast is always inspiring to me and if you’ve been around for a while you know the ocean is half of my heart.
Caity is one of my closest friends so it was incredibly special that she flew me out to take her and Nate’s engagement photos in Big Sur. These two are a power couple. Nate’s in the military and Caity is a badass nurse; together they are the cutest couple and I am so happy for the both of them.
Caity envisioned her wedding cliffside near the ocean. While that’s happening back in our hometown in Florida, she thought it would be great to capture the essence of their time in California. Big Sur is close to where they live so we came up with a plan & headed to the California Coast!
Our first stop was this secret little pull off area. Funny story- I found this image online somewhere, probably instagram. The loaction was not tagged so I sent my husband on a search to find this dreamy engagement photo location. Of course within 20 mins he found it. I swear he can do anything. Anyways, we grabbed coffee at Alma (obsessed & highly recommend) and then drove up the coast to the spot. It was everything. Truly a magical spot for an elopement one day.
We stayed there for a while and then went back to Caity’s to change, and get the vintage car!!! and head to another area in Big Sur. We stopped at Bixby bridge, along with many tourists so it was a quick stop, and then continued on hwy 1. Most of the locations you find on google like this will be crowded with tourists but there are even more spots in between that are so beautiful with no one around!
I am fully obsessed with all the shots we got. They were a dream to work with and I am so sad I won’t be able to attend their wedding this fall. I just know they are going to be gorgeous. It meant so much to me to have been apart of this for them!
